Jude Klassen is a writer for hire and a filmmaker currently doing the festival circuit with her debut feature film, LOVE IN THE SIXTH. LITS is an unromantic MUSICAL comedy about extinction that debuted at the Whistler Film Festival 2015 and is having its U.S. premiere in the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival (CIMMFEST) on April 17th, 2016 at the iconic Logan Theatre.
Klassen wrote the vastly screened Bravofact funded short film Do Not Bend that stars Anna Silk (Lost Girls) and Peter Keleghan (18 to Life). She was executive story editor on the Leslie Neilsen Biography spoof, Liocracy. Klassen has written sketches for Jessica Holmes (The Itch), she has written for animated series like Captain Flamingo, and was the executive story editor and writer on 13 episodes of The Comedy Network’s quirky classic, The Mr. Dink Show.
Klassen’s short fiction has been published in the late great Canadian Forum (Uncle Piotr), it has been short-listed for the Writers Union of Canada competition (The Not-So- Secret, Secret Life of Angus McFee), and was awarded a Canada Council literary grant (Toxic Shock and Other Family Gatherings). Western Alienation was shortlisted for both the Toronto Life Summer Fiction issue (the final one), and This Magazine’s Great Canadian Literary Hunt. Food-combining was published in The Vancouver Courier. Klassen produces, writes and directs for film, TV, and radio, and until very recently produced a monthly column, Canada’s Call Sheet, for the national magazine Movie Entertainment.
Klassen has been an ongoing on air contributor to CBC’s DNTO, a weekly pundit on CP24’s Sex Matters show, and has created, directed and edited several viral videos in the form of her alter ego, Tasha James (Referred to by The Real News Network as Canada’s Stephen Colbert). Her quirky celebrity interviews include: Jason Priestley, Gordon Pinsent, Michelle Forbes, Blair Underwood, Adam Beach, Lauren Lee Smith—and many, many more. Klassen’s live events: Judecast Live and Jude’s Martini Thinktank showcase Canadian talent: actors, comedians, musicians, writers, producers and journalists in a lively setting: The Drake Hotel Underground, The Bread and Circus, and Jude’s Home Martini Bar (with live streaming). Klassen thrives on collaboration and innovation and is thrilled her musical film’s soundtrack is getting some radio play!
Jude is a WGC member and is represented as a writer by the Jennifer Hollyer Agency.
